Tiznow as sire of sires

Just learned that Colonel John has been sold to Korea. Tiz Wonderful had already
be relocated there. Is this a bad sign for Tiznow's prospects as a sire of sires? :(

Well, none of his sons have exactly set the world on fire so far. These days, if a horse doesn't sire something pretty big (and preferably male) in his first crop or two, he's pretty much a goner as far as the commercial market goes.

I thought Tiz Wonderful and Colonel John were useful sires... but just hadn't sired a "big" one, I guess.

The thing about Tiznow sons is they tend to be late-developing and are throwing later developing foals.

Bullsbay and Tizway didn't get going until their 4yo seasons. Morning Line didn't even start until the Monmouth meet in July of his 3yo season and was running in a NW2X when most of his peers were running in the Travers. Colonel John matured early, but his full brother is a successful chaser.

If the market is looking for early graded stakes success out of this kind of horse, it's an unlikely sceanrio.

Gemologist may be the exception to prove the rule. Yellow Agate won looking good, and she's bred on both sides to be later-maturing (out of a Lemon Drop Kid mare, 2nd dam by Sadlers Wells, from the family of Rainbow Quest).

I'm rooting for Theory in the Futurity to give Gemologist another GSW.

Theory did it.

Gemologist had a nice weekend...a filly taking 3rd in the Gr3 Matron and another Maiden special winner at Gulfstream.

Maybe a tad off topic but as a handicapper I have noticed that Tiznow's are usually heavily supported when they try the turf the 1st time. They are often coming off solid dirt performance though not always. They do not perform well in this role even if the other side of the pedigree supports the green stuff. Tiz Wonderful is not like his dad and does run lights out 1st turf.

Really disappointed to see Tizway get sold, seems so quick. They need time !!!
They sold Tiz Wonderful rather quickly too.

Also disappointing is the lack of success of the IMported Sunday Silence stallions . . .
