I agree that C.C.'s pedigree doesn't inspire much confidence, especially at 40K, but I do l like the fact that he performed at a high level for so long. His durability is something I hope he passes on.

I am sorry the thread took a negative turn, I tend to chalk it up to pre-holiday stress. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and thank you for the discussion.

I look at his pedigree and I kind of think his owners are chasing the wrong idea by focusing on Numbered Account.

Lucky Pulpit is linebred to Sir Gaylord via AP Indy and Cozzene...and I think that's something to focus on, based on Lucky Pulpit's second and third best runners, Rousing Sermon (dam by Awesome Again) and Luckarack (dam by Dehere).

The most common sources of high-quality Sir Gaylord are in Australia and New Zealand via Sir Tristram and his descendants and in the USA via El Prado and his descendants. Put Sir Gaylord with Deputy Minister (especially Dehere) and something special happens. (I think it's Windfields/Bunty Lawless, since the Sir T tribe goes lights out with the Ciboulette family and the common link other than Northern Dancer is Windfields.)

Sir Gaylord is interesting in other ways. El Prado and his sons with Pulpit have a really good strike rate, with at least one stakes winner out of Pulpit mares for El Prado himself and each of his major sons (Medaglia D'Oro, Kittens Joy, Artie Schiller). Flip it around to Tapit...and even though he is an exceptional stallion, Tapit with El Prado's tribe is outperforming opportunity.

So, while you get bonus points if you add more Numbered Account, I'd be most interested in mares by these fellows....
* Medaglia D'Oro
* El Prado
* Kittens Joy (Chrome did run well on grass)
* Artie Schiller
* Awesome Again
* Dehere and his brother Defrere
* French Deputy
* Tiznow (someone on this board pointed out that Incantation inbreeding is working well)
* Oxbow and Paynter, once their foals are of breeding age
kk,

Why did you go back a month later and change what you said in all of your comments?

He left California plenty. I recall a Derby win in Kentucky, a Preakness win in Maryland, a loss in New York, a travel overseas to Dubai, then England, and just the other day Florida. Your crazy if you consider that "barely" leaving CA.
