Tale of Ekati was a 2005 foal. He raced 4 years, having his last race in 2009. He was supposed to be a stallion at the Darby Dan farm starting in 2010. His first foals were born in 2012, so he really did not start as a stallion until 2011.
So, what happened in 2010? Was he sick or something that year? Anyone know?

He had surgery for some problem with his spine and/or neck. He's always been carefully managed, although I don't know that there was ever so much demand for him that they turned down mares. I want to say he had that same surgery that Seattle Slew had but I don't remember the exact thing they did for him.

Thanks guys.
I think that Tale of Ekati is a pretty good bargain at 5K now, but that's JMO.

Not quite keeping up with the quality of the mares, but 4% sw. Best is Girvin but big drop off after that. At 5k can't argue.

I was high on a colt named Dark Vader, but he is on the shelf for now.

Speaking of Dark Vader, I wonder what kind of injury he has and how serious. Anyone know?
