Tiz The Law to Ashford

Postby Shawklit Won » Wed Dec 30, 2020 3:34 pm

Tiz The Law has been retired to stud at Ashford Stud. I was looking forward to seeing him race in the Pegasus Stakes and beyond, but I guess there were some medical issues, or just plain money maybe. At Ashford he should make a lot of it. Good luck Tiz The Law.

I thought this might happen, when I saw that Coolmore bought the breeding rights.

His fee is 40K. Vets said that Tiz The Law would be at high risk for a leg fracture if he raced any more, so I guess the decision to retire him was the right one. I was looking forward to him having a big year racing in 2021.

Adding to an already tough New Stallion market I think, esp at the high end. My hunch is that the foal crop will be down 20% - in line with the overall market decline and that means that a lot of lonely stallions. The biggest of the stud operations can gin up mares for season 1, but that means they're not available for other lesser stallions.

Besides, Tiz The Law announced late the stud plans, so many mares are probably already booked to other stallions. I think that Authentic will get a good book of mares, but maybe not so much for Tiz The Law, but I could be wrong.

I know that I have been offered some pretty great deals for the little group of mares I am booking for this year. I think they will have to work hard to get good ones for TTL.
