WILD RUSH
I've got a really beautiful winning broodmare by WILD ZONE.
She is big and strong. I noted that the latest running of the Geniune Risk Stakes was won by a WILD RUSH filly. As I'm up to date on their pedigrees, any other helpful information on either of these two stallions is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi Sham,
What do you need to know? Adena was buying and standing a number of Wild Agains sons; Wild Zone, Wild Rush, Wild Gold (wasn't there another). They've sold all or part of Zone and Gold to stand in Texas.
Wild Zone is a very muscular, fast son of Wild Again who was noteworthy because his first 6 runners all won. He's noted for fast, early mnaturing foals and I believe that his abilities on the grass haven't been leveraged by owners of his foals (about 20% of eearnings).
Wild Rush went to stud in the same year as Awesome Again and Touch Gold. His first crop was mediocre with the best runner being Fencelineneighbor who was a modest stakes winner. By the time his first foals were turning four he was sold to Japan and then all heck broke loose.
At this writing he's been the most consistent of that trio with 14 or more SW, many graded including the top fillies Stellar Jayne (G1) and Hollywood Story (G1), but he also had Wimbledon and Quinton's Gold Rush on the 2004 Derby Trail. Wild Rush has been hanging in and around the top 10 of the general sires list and looks every bit the successor to his venerable sire (Wild Again), except that he's already gone.
I've always liked Wild Rush and bred several mares to him. I did OK, but didn't really capitalize on his success. I believe he'd be standing for $35k were he still in the states. He gets a lot of fine runners.
Does that help?
Regards,
Pete
