Here's the latest weekly survey and what the people on www.thoroughbredtimes.com chose. I thought it interesting.
Weekly Survey
Which of these sires whose first crop is yearlings this year has the best chance to do well at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July selected yearling sale?
Came Home: 19.59%
Johannesburg: 36.48%
Officer: 10.13%
Orientate: 14.86%
Street Cry (Ire): 12.16%
Yonaguska: 3.37%
Include: 3.37%
Thoughts? I almost went for Johannesburg on this one but I have a fondness for Came Home. Anybody know how their respective foals looked? Are they developing well?

hello Heidilady
The survey question you reference is "Which of these sires whose first crop is yearlings this year has the best chance to do well at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July selected yearling sale?"
Hmmm..."best chance to do well"...what the heck does that mean?
If "do well" means which stallion might have the results sheet(s) indicate a yearling or yearlings were hammered down for the biggest number(s) and/or highest mean average...it's hard to bet against Johannesburg...he may appear to have a couple sell for $7 million each (tongue in cheek). The advertisements are probably already prepared...ha ha ha.
The real speculation might be whose name(s) will appear on the tickets...and who will the post-sale interview(s) be with to declare the Johannesburgs to be 'the best yearlings I've ever seen.' The better poll question might be...Whose name(s) will appear on the results sheet(s) for the highest priced Johannesburg(s)? hmmm...I wouldn't be surprised if 7 out of 10 could figure some of that out right now.
Now if the question was...Which of these sires whose first crop is yearlings this year will have his offspring honestly sell for the highest price(s) and/or highest mean average price at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July selected yearling sale...well Heidilady...that's another question all together.
Could be entertaining...get ready for a possible game of charades.

It's an interesting question considering that they're asking specifically about the Fasig-Tipton July sale, is a sale that's a hugely popular venue for pinhookers.
Bearing that in mind, I would expect Johannesburg to do the best there of the first crop sires cited, and I would also expect the Orientates and Yonaguskas to sell well. I'm really surprised the percentage of people who have voted for Yonaguska is so low.
I'm guessing that the Came Homes may be too small or crooked for that market (based on what the sire looks like, not on the offspring as I've only seen a couple) and I wouldn't expect the Street Crys to be what the pinhookers are looking for either (a bit of a turf orientation and many of them out of mares that further that bias). I would think both those sires will do better in at Keeneland September than they will at F-T.
