Postby Tina Salomonsen » Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:01 am

We are the lucky owners of a stallion callede "Starry Night".
- Half brother to Sadlers Wells.
His father is Northern Dancer and his mother is Cloud Castle.
He is born in 1983 in the states and the breeder and owner was
John Hay Whitney Greentree stabels.
Does anyone know something about our stallion when he was racing in the states ? ( before 1990 )

Hi Tina

Starry Night won the Oak Mountain Stakes, is a half sibling to the Stakes winner, Elevated, and to the stakes placed winners, Scattered Steps (2nd in the G3 Lawrence Realization Stakes) and Floating, who was placed in several stakes and ran 4th in the G1 Delaware Hcp. She was sent to New Zealand where she produced the Tattersall's Mile (AUS) winner Raft.
Starry Night isn't condidered a half brother to Sadler's Wells in thoroughbred breeding terms. A full or half sibling has to be out of the same mare. If you considered just the stallion, he is a half brother to over 600 other thoroughbreds, including Sadler's Wells and Danzig. He hails from a decent family. He traces tail female to the conduit mare, Rose Ronald, a source of stamina.

Hi Tina,

Lots of success with your stallion, nice to see someone from Europe taking part of this board (we're not so far away from each other, The Netherlands). Kind regards,
