I think that keeping him at $30k would be a good move for Winstar. Aside from Folklore, he has only about six other winners out of a first crop of about 100. At least half have not even started yet. I suspect that some breeders remember that he didn't fire until mid to late 3yo and are waiting to see what his 3yos do.

Their is a lesson to be learned here. Look at the quality of mares Successfull Appeal was bred to and the class level they raced at.
Look at the mares that Princequillo was bred to and you will realize its the stallion that makes his mares. If the stallion is a flop the best quality book of mares will not make the stallion a top stud.
J O Tobin was bred to the best quality mares and was a flop as a stallion.
