I heard through the grapevine that Wild Wonder died last night (covering a mare). Heart attack. They are going to autopsy.
Dang, better get mortality insurance on my guy, Rocking Trick..

Test Mating
Those "test matings" will kill you. Since the breeding shed wasn't open what else could it be??
I believe that the now 3YO filly Wild Fit and Fusaichi Rock Star (full siblings) are his two top earners, and there's another full sibling that is yet to come of age. Very sad news, and it will be even more tragic if Wild Fit lives up to some of her early accolades.

Austique, I'm sure this has got to throw a wrench in the works for you. Just a couple of comments. If it's Wild Again you liked in his pedigree, take a look at Milwaukee Brew. I haven't seen him and know little about him, other than some speculation that he is arguably the best son of Wild Again (on the track). If it's the Icecapade line you like, consider Rocking Trick who also gives you the added benefit of Storm Cat as an emerging broodmare sire.
Good luck!

I am realy quite bummed. He certainly had a bright future ahead of him (and I was willing to bet on it). Thanks for your suggestions guys and girls. For this mare we are looking for proven with correct confirmation no Raise A Native and $10,000 or less. Commercial appeal doesn't matter nor does surface preference. Vicar is an interesting option.
Do watch the video on http://www.stallionregister.com He was lovely.

Whoa HL. . . .that was kind of eerie.
I went to the site to see his walking video and just as I clicked to see WW the CD I was playing on the computer(Pop Hits of the 70's) the lead-in to the song started and it brought
. . . . . . the song was Wildfire by Michael Murphey.
So I watched the Wild Wonder's video to the music of Wildfire.
Rest in Peace Wild Wonder . . . . . .

Apparently Wild Wonder never got to cover the test mare. I understand he was in the breeding shed, on the verge of being cleaned-up (prior to covering the mare)...when he apparently (and without any warning whatsoever) got rubber-legged, collapsed on his side and died.
Sad.
His future seemed so bright.

Lindros and Austique, what are the names of your mares that were booked to Wild Wonder? Maybe we can give some more suggestions for matings if you like.
I was just looking him up in a hypo-mating with one of my mares tonight when I saw the death listed on his pedigree database page. What a shock!

Wow, Tairaterces...that gave me goosebumps. I'm sure it was haunting.
The Thoroughbred industry may not even know how much it has lost. That may become evident in the next years to come...and maybe even later this year.
To all of you who had mares booked to him, I hope you are able to find an alternative stallion you are happy with. Good luck.
