Lil E Tee

Postby pretender » Tue May 16, 2006 8:24 am

Does anyone know what his fee is set at?

I have looked at his stats, so know he isn't a sire of sires, but thought he might be a decent value if his fee was set right. Any opinions on his conformation and foals produced would be appreciated.

Thanks

One thing I know from visiting him this spring: he is VERY tall! 17+ hands, he was the biggest boy I saw :D And the sexiest, if you don't mind my personal, uneducated opinion.

I'm no expert on conformation, sadly, but I do know that he's big, no little in Lil E Tee.

How could a derby contender be uneducated? Appreciate the input.

I spoke with my mare, she said sexy was O.K. as long as he has a good head on his shoulders and not too conceited.

saw a better conformation photo at his website. impressive.

Just received a Principles of Conformation Analysis in the mail today. Glad there wont be a test after though.

Hi Guys,

I would also be interested in everyone's views of Lil E Tee! Good, bad or indifferent.

JimP,

http://www.oldfrankfortstud.com/ has a nice conformation photo and some stats for him.

he has at least 5 standing sons

Teed Off
Mula Gula

Lil E Tee is a nice, solid breed to race sire who was hampered by his funky pedigree and his inability to get a really big offspring. He gets them to the track and they run and he's a fairly nice-looking horse. I had enquired about him last year and his fee is quite low.

The downside...they virtually have no value in the sales ring and even though he's had perfectly respectable results he does drag his mares down, so he wouldn't be one I would count on for a huge improvement. Lastly, (and I hate being the fertility police) he dropped from around 50% live foals (consistently at that rate for several years) to 35% with his crop conceived in 2004. I would really ask some tough questions of the farm on that. It may have been a case of a poor group of mares, but he isn't getting any younger.

He's from the female family of Ghostzapper, City Zip, Affirmed... That 23b family is packed with good blood!

I like him, would consider him if he had a LFG. He's a good looking horse!

Old Frankfort Stud hasn't updated their web page since 2004. Geesh...maybe a little marketing problem?

I was surprised to see the website updates weren't current but assumed it was because there wasn't much to say. The PDF data indicates 10/05 date. The numbers do indicate there is no sales market for the progeny.

I agree that marketing could be better for all their 4 leggeds. I dont really understand the Private fee philosophy. Unless I really want that horse I usually move on to horses I know are in my fee range.

Who's your mare? Lil E Tee's female family (Ghostzapper, etc.) works well with Raise A Native/Exclusive Native lines. Haven't checked the lines his best produce have been from though...see if there is a nick there to be explored.

His best foal (and one of my all-time favorite horse names) Mula Gula was out of an Ascot Knight mare. Aside from that he's been sort of all over the place with no clear allegiances to any sire line.

I agree that he has not shown an allegiance to a particular sire line, but when I look at some of the pedigrees in this DB with money next to their names I see Turn-To within the pedigrees through different branches. Best I can come up with so far. I'll be looking at all his progeny pedigrees over the next couple of days and see if I can find any better reason than his appearance and the fact that he won a Derby to justify my pairing. I like Austique's comment that he gets them to the track. The family names presented are great. I had not thought to look that up.

My mare is a canter retread (but I like her) with ND and Mr. P. The nick I receive with her is a C+(I dont think nicks with this sire will be accurate). Foal GSV (I look at it but do I really care?) drops significantly from what I can get with other pairings. As pointed out already, no sales, doesn't improve mares, and fee is unknown (have emailed to see if they would approve of mare and fee). A good business-person would probably look elsewhere, but I have this feeling there still may be a race foal from him yet to be had. I like the linebreeding numbers I get ND being the only thing over 10% (+1) Princequillo 7 Mahmoud 5 Teddy 5 Bull Dog 6 Hyperion 4 Selene 3 Case Ace 4 Blue Larkspur 2 LaTroienne 2 Johnstown 1.

To me he is a long shot, but maybe the budweiser long shot if his fee is in line with his shed performance.

Thanks for feedback so far, more comments welcome. I am not sold on this guy yet.

very annoying to type a response and have it disappear.

I can be logged to the site all day but if I take 5 minutes to reply the system logs me out.

I tried to contact the farm and see Lil E Tee last summer but never got a response. So their customer service and advertising departments could use some house cleaning!! :D
