Two of the horses on my picks list (posted earlier) went for ridiculously low prices (unless they had legs on backwards, of course): #600 and #618. Did anyone see either of these fillies? I wonder if their confirmation was really that bad.

Interestingly, both of these fillies were bought by Dominion Bloodstock (sounds Canadian, like me). Does anyone know who Dominion Bloodstock is? Might give them a call.

Yes, I did. And no, it wasn't. All I can say is that neither one was what buyers are looking for right now. The FuPeg filly, in particular, was quite attractive, though not terribly big.

By the way, it's conf-o-rmation.

Dominion Bloodstock is a Canadian racing partnership based out of Woodbine. Dave Cotey is the trainer and most likely bought them at Keeneland, don't have his number handy. They ususally do well with reasonable purchases of racing prospects at KEE.

Well, remember... at the last Keeneland sale the overall prices were way down but the Indiana bred prices actually increased quite a bit. You may be the only one to make a profit in this sale! :)

When does she sell? I exceeded my fair access policy watching Keeneland yesterday (which I joked about on another thread but then, like an idiot, didn't think to turn it off when I wasn't actually watching,) so I won't be able to watch today... at least until early afternoon sometime.

Good luck with her!

Just a few weeks ago I received in the mail a letter and brochure touting a newish stallion from a well-known farm in Kentucky. Twice in the letter they referred to his "confirmation." I threw it away.

Sorry, Heather T., I didn't take any notes on her. I just recall that she was a good size.

I saw a Smarty Jones colt this morning for 3500 on the live feed. Its crazy, but at the same time, someone just bought a quality horse for way less than the stud fee.

What about this one? Hip #893. $26K for an AP Indy filly out of a G1 winner. Wow.

Paulson did not no sale Azeri for 4.4 million. Most likely,Azeri had a reserve of 4.5 mil.Even on a reserve that is not reached you pay a commission.Do you honestly think the auction company is going to halt air bids at say $2.5 million when they know they can make an additional percentage because the reserve is at 4.5 mil.Paulsons reasons could be varied, tough to say with a poor little rich boy that has never been poor. The heirs of Calumet come to mind when watching Paulson and his antics. It's funny how the heirs can go thru money that they never earned themselves. He could be trying to inflate value on them to form partnerships---one of many things that could be happening.

I bought a mare today privately that walked thru the ring on Monday and no saled at $$49,000---that was the first thing they tried to pull on me was that she sold for $49,000---I said no,your reserve was 50k and she got run up to 49k---I said I have a client for the mare and this is what he'll pay in cash,we offered 10k and I bought the mare today for $12,500

Guess what,I have a mare that sold on Monday for $49k---I'm not greedy,I'd take 25k for her today.Just because the final hammer was close to the reserve doesn't mean they had actual live money,it's funny what ghost bidders and an unrealistic reserve does to the horse market and how some perceive actual and true value.

Sincerely-Jeff
