Forestry colt goes for $1000? Hip 845

Postby springboro » Wed Sep 12, 2007 10:52 pm

Is that figure correct? Hip 845 by Forestry out of a stakes winning stakes producing Forty Niner mare? What was the major malfunction?

Was the horse announced with Forestry "My achin' butt" syndrome?

I mean I'm not the biggest forestry fan but I mean.... come on man.. 1k? shoot if I was taylor made I'd step in and bid against myself to make it interesting.

just like you want to be known as the farm that stands stallions that produce classic winners.. no one wants to be known as the farm that has yearlings sale for 1/75th of their sires stud fee, not to mention all the other expenses

Did Korean interests buy the horse? It sold for $1/pound.

I didn't see that colt.. but the prices so far this week seem to reflect an emphatic statement from the world of buyers that some stud fees are just too high. How many Storm Cats have sold for MORE than $500K vs the number that sold for LESS than $500K?

The first day was down $20 million from last year. The second day the cumulative was down $37 million from last year. Yesterday showed a modest gain and pulled the cumulative up by $4 million. My pals have been predicting a serious market correction.. maybe this is just the beginning.

Madelyn...the Sheikh spent $60 Million less this year - he's the market correction. The median price of the middle market hasn't changed.

The middle market is even more competitive this year than last, in my opinion. I have a lot of money to spend and it's only given me underbidder status... the two I got were private sales.

Why? There's way too many horses in this sale to spend money on one that probably wont make it to the races.

That never stopped people from buying Storm Cats before, Maven.

There was a 4-yo Forestry colt (named Hooper) that broke his maiden today (9/13/07) for a $10,000 tag, at Presque Isle.

He shows as being sold by Taylor Made Sales Agency, Agent, for $425,000 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select-August 2004. What must he have looked like?

Hi FOS,

Forestry and Taylor Made are having themselves quite a week. Here's a Taylor Made bred Forestry that won at Remington Park for $35,000 this week:
