Hoosier Park Paddock Sale Saturday RESULTS

Postby Roguelet » Tue Nov 13, 2007 8:52 pm

There will be a Paddock Sale at Hoosier Park on Saturday, November 17th. The sale will begin at 1:00 PM but horses will be available for inspection starting at about 8:00 AM. There will be a list of horses available at the track that morning, so get there early to look everyone over. This is a good opportunity to look for a riding horse or broodmare prospect, and some racers have come out of this sale as well. It's a good place to be a buyer. Please help spread the word.

Roguelet, you don't happen to know if there are any mares by Synastry racing at Hoosiers or that might turn up at the sale?

I don't know. Actually, I won't even know who's in the sale until that morning, or maybe the night before. The auctioneer takes entries directly for this sale... much lower-key and a LOT less work for me than our other sale! :D I just show up to do the "admin" stuff and take people's money.

Taking money is good. I'm glad this will be less stressful for you.

Hi,

I am shipping into race that day at Hoosier. Will the horses be in one barn? Is the auction going to be right in the saddling paddock?

Thanks

These are all or almost all horses that are currently racing and already stabled at the track, so they will be in their trainer's barns throughout the backside. The sale will be held at 1:00 PM and usually doesn't take very long. We used to bring the horses up to the Paddock for the actual auction, but I think the plan is to go ahead and just do it all on the backside, probably in the receiving barn or just at the end of it. But, the trainers will take the horses back to their own stalls after they run through the ring, so there won't be a receiving barn overflow.

I just received a fax of the list of horses in the Paddock Sale and quickly threw them up on the ITOBA web site. There may be late entries that won't be on the list, but here's what came through to me about an hour ago:

Sorry, after I posted the list of horses I left for the track and wasn't by a computer again until after the sale was over. We watched our horse run Friday night and then just stayed over for Saturday's sale.

I have all the sale slips and paperwork here in front of me, and I really should be going through them and preparing the deposit instead of playing around on PQ. Once I get it all done I'll post results. To answer your question in general terms, though, this is a sale where horses typically go very cheap... definitely a buyer's sale. A lot of the horses in this sale are sold outside the racing world, to H/J people etc.

I wanted the Orway mare (Nordic Lass) and the Tiznow filly (Ultima something). Did they sell for much?
