I bought a short yearling< 8 months old> at this sale last year for a pittance only because I had the dam once. He was a scrawny unimpressive type but now is a tank. I could have gotten his half brother for nothing yesterday but I have enough mouths to feed at the moment and it's a long winter even down here until the northern tracks open up again. It's true these sales are full of poor stock but this sale was a disaster ,people do not have much disposable income right now to take a chance on the middle ground horses.Actually this could be a wake up call to many in the industry who will either have to upgrade to survive or just pack it in.Either way is fine to me given the overproduction in this sport and once your horse wins out it's lifetime conditions in claimers then it is destined for obscurity as the better animals start dropping in class to win whatever they can, roll on springtime!!
