I remember my first ever claim about 8 yrs ago. Claimed a horse for 3500 and ran him next in a Starter Allowance race where he ran 4th got beat only 2 lengths. I swear i was on top of the world. My 3500 horse to me was a NICE horse you know what i mean. If they wanted him they were going to have to pay for him. Decided to run him long because he kept on closing. Bad move on my part. The horse was a non-sweater going 2 turns in 100 degree summer nites in Louisiana. Boy was i brought down to earth. Ran him back for 3500 no takers. Ran him all meet for 3500 and no takers. Had to send him to Beulah Park where its cold as shit and the damn horse ended up winning 3 races up there.

agc, he might have won 3 races but the winnings couldn't have been over $4K.

I want to say the purse was around 4-5K.

After his 2nd win we sold him for 4K up there and the next start he won a Starter race worth around 7800.
