Thanks!
I'm thrilled with her.
Her pedigree is such a hoot--thought I had to give her a try.
The better I do at this game, the more likely it is that hubby will consent to buying a real share of a horse with our own money.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I actually did really well with my virtual stable last year, but my husband didn't believe me. He's just not into racing. Just as well, because this year I'm not doing so hot. Oh well, it is still a fun game.

Best of luck with your stable and here's hoping you get a real one some day!

Thank God I have Jardin because now I'm 2 for 21 starts, and both wins are hers. My horses have been striking out (commonly second-to-last) of late after a promising mainly-on-the-board start.

21--2-2-4 . . .and cringing. Uh, counting.

I must be a glutton for punishment, or at least for keeping insanely busy with my avocations, because I'm going to do the same thing with Keeneland Sept yearlings this year.
I gave up looking for my remaining unnamed 2YOs. If they ain't named yet, I'm not expecting much. Or they've died. So my class of 2006 models is "closed" .

For those who also play this game, want to share current stats?

Mine:
Total class of 2006 foals: 57: 32 to workout, 13 to race, 1 winner, 1 G3 winner as of August 14.

2004 foals:
184 starts, 52 wins, 23 places, 36 shows (28.3% wins, 60.3% ITM)
46 foals, 28 starters, 22 winners
6 stakes winners, 7 stakes placed, 3 graded stakes placed

2005 foals:
107 starts, 25 wins, 13 places, 20 shows (23.4% wins, 54.2% ITM)
40 foals, 24 starters, 15 winners
3 stakes winners, 5 stakes placed, 0 graded stakes placed

2006 foals:
11 starts, 2 wins, 1 place, 1 show (18.2% wins, 36.4% ITM)
39 foals, 5 starters, 2 winners
0 stakes winners, 0 stakes placed, 0 graded stakes placed

I have high hopes for my 2006 crop, though, once more of them start racing.

And congrats, Toccet, on Jardin! Awesome! I have yet to have a graded winner. My best horse by far is Strike A Deal, who's earned almost $800,000, but keeps finishing second (including a 2nd in the Grade 1 United Nations!).

2006 foals:
3 starts, 1 wins, 0 place, 0 show (33% wins, 33% ITM)
7 foals, 1 starters, 1 winners
0 stakes winner, 0 stakes placed, 0 graded stakes placed

Is it my imagination or are a lot of the 2006 foals starting later than usual? Or maybe we are just picking the later maturing ones!

I don't know, since I've never tracked a bunch of 2YOs before!

two of mine raced today and both finished off the board.

I started off so well . . .

It IS fun though.

Mine generally seem to start later. I try to tell myself that they're late-bloomers (which I prefer to precocious types anyway), but most of the time I think they're really just no-bloomers.

Yeah! My first (and only) starter is now a stakes winner! Ok, so it was a Cal bred restricted stakes. But I am still excited. And even better--it was at Del Mar and I got to go see her and take pictures! :D

Her name is Ten Churros and she is sired by my favorite California sire, High Brite, who is a grandson of Turn-To (not too many of those still around.) I picked her out of the Barrett's catalog, because I really liked her pedigree. She was bred by Harris Farms and I also saw a picture of her on their website.

Only seven in my 2006 class. My 2007 class is going to be a lot bigger because I went "shopping" online at the recent OBS select sale (the one with the photos). It is easy to get carried away when you aren't spending real money.
