Anyone look at the book yet? There are some pretty nice horses this year.

I can't go because I have to work, plus as a working woman don't have any money for more horses.

I looked at the Asmussen ad in the Texas Thoroughbred magazine and Hip#216, Valid Heart, caught my eye. His dam is a full sister to Valid Expectations and the sire is Special Rate. I would have high expectations for this one.

I hope that there will be some buyers at the sale. It is a tough year.

I'll try to look at the Asmussen horse Monday. We looked at a bunch over the weekend. I'm supposed to be selling this time rather than buying. Just hoping we might meet a few folks from the PQ.

Well, it cannot hurt to post your hip numbers and their good points on here. More people are reading than commenting... who knows? I for one would be interested in any comments posted by those who can actually attend and see the entries.

Best of luck in the sale.

I've only got 1 in-#276. He's a nice colt. X-rays & scope perfect. He's a Louisiana bred. My wife and the trainer won't be disappointed if he runs under our colors next year. We just have another yearling to break and it gets pricey to keep 2 ya know :)

There is a Valid Expectations filly selling tomorrow #306 out of Bridal Tea by Gulch. She is full sister to a SW and 1/2 to another one. Her second dam is a SW 1/2 sister to Storm Cat,etc by Northern Dancer which of course means her 3rd dam is Terlingua. Based on pedigree I will be surprised if she isnt the sale topper.

She has a very nice page, if she looks good I totally agree with soundfast.

We went to the sale Monday mainly to look at the Midway Roads and Wimbletons. I was surprised at the uniformity of the Midway Roads and I was very surprised at the range of prices they brought. They were smallesh for the most part and fairly well put together. I really liked the Wimbleton's and they were built pretty much the same.
I wish I had read this thread Sunday, I could have met you guys.

Prices weren't good if you were a seller. I guess the economy took it's toll. Seemed to be many more sellers than buyers. We'll race ours unless someone offers privately. He was too nice to just give away.
I liked 437 because of the names in the ped-especially Mill Reef. I think it went for 18K. Usually there isn't that much appreciation for turf horses. This was a tough sale to figure out.

Texas Sale

Postby psidio » Fri Aug 29, 2008 9:23 am

Hi All,

I was there for all of Day #1 and the first two hours of Day #2.

We did buy two cheap horses and were the underbidder on several more. For those that were there, which horses do you think were really under valued? Based on Pedigree or conformation? Which surprised you with the high price they brought?

I saw hip #276, and thought he was a nice colt.

Thanks
Paul
