At the Calder Sale last year we tried something new and brought 4 horses to the Select Calder Sale for 2 Year-olds, and "Zephyr" breezed them... basically moved them slowly, without a timer (although they were timed, just unpublished)... and these 4 horses failed to sell. Quick update on them to those who care/are interested:
SMARTY JONES / MUST BE A LADY: named GEORGIANA
Fit and very close to ready for her first start. Breezed from the gate, has done everything asked. Has speed, looks good. Professional.
CANDY RIDE / PELICUS AFFAIR: named CANDY BUTTONS
Beautiful big and fast, but we have backed off twice, for a nagging problem, swelling near the knee. She needs time, probably wont start till 3, but she is something.
MORE THAN READY / SINCE TIME BEGAN: named SYNCHRONICITY
He first start was 7f on the grass at Belmont Park for NY Bred fillys. Came in 3rd at 10-1. Needed the race, comes back today in a 6 furlong dirt sprint at Aqueduct. She likes the surface, I think she will do well and improve.
MENIFEE / CHAMPAGNE FOREVER: named LOHAD
He has been on and off for a few weeks with McPeek, but has done well over the last few weeks and looks ready to go. Has posted improving breezes, and will make his first start this Saturday, Race 1 at Churchill Downs.
So it looks like 3 out of the 4 horses we slow breezed will race as 2 year-olds. Somewhat close to expected. Should be fun to watch, see how they do...
Quick update on "Slow Breezed" horses

I saw Synchronicity run, dray. I remembered the name because of The Police. I don't think you'll be sorry she didn't reach her reserve. I'll be pulling for her.

LOHAD ran in the first at Churchill today. Came in fourth, lost by a head bob for 3rd (photo). Here's the deal... first time out, both Kenny and Robby said without the traffic (he was checked twice) he mighta won it, second at worst. A horrid trip, but he is sure to improve. Was next to last, loping around the first 3/4, woke up and went to work. I really like these kind, I suggest watching him the next time. He is gonna be a runner.
