How many stallions are currently standing in PA? We currently have close to 300 stallions in LA and it seems like there is a new one coming in each week. If you bring him here it might be difficult to land a decent book of quality mares.
If you are looking for numbers and price him well then you could possibly get some good books. They did this with High Cascade (1/2 to rubiano) a few years ago and he pulled some big books for a first year sire in LA. Below is what he bred his first three years with a $750 stud fee.
2005 - 61
2006 - 79
2007 - 37

Well said, Jarad.
Foxtale, if you have maidens, it's going to be tough to get in. There are a LOT of maidens trying to get in. Do you know by how many your races are oversubscribed? I'm betting by a lot. It won't be as tough to get in at EVD, but they will have HUGE fields (which is why it won't be as tough to get in). Honestly, if I had PA breds, I'd look at running in PA if you can.

WOW! How many mares were bred in 2008?
We had 89 stallions , with 1200 mares covered... that is an avg of 13.5 to each stallion!
Like I said, it was just an idea... but he seems to be doing better than avg here and hopefully, 2009 will be his best year yet. He just had a son run third today at Gulfstream.

Sock Monkey... by 10-14 ! (Fairgrounds) .
We will run in PA, as soon as the tracks thaw out! Thanks to everyone... just wish we would have found out sooner that they were so filled (oversubscribed).
Jarad... pretty pathetic numbers here (HUH?) Also, number of foals born in PA was only around 500... less than half! People here really need to wake up and appreciate the potential here. Stop living like it is 1970, quit bitchin about how much it costs to do the right thing and TAKE CARE of their horses, keep the mares in foal, foal watch, don't just let mother nature take its course! We chose our farm's location, not only because it is centrally located between Phila Park and Penn National, but because we live in a calcium enriched limestone area, just like Central KY. The calcium to phosphoroous ratio is identical.
