OBS February Under Tack Show

Postby Hold Your Peace » Fri Feb 13, 2009 8:45 am

With my dialup connection I only caught a few of the early breezes from the under tack show for the OBS February sale, but it looks like the safetrack surface and the clear and calm weather conditions are producing really fast times. I think to be considered a fast work today you're going to have to be under 10 seconds for an 1/8 and under 21 seconds for a quarter. I know a Dehere filly out of Paris Rose went an 1/8 in 9 3/5 already and two colts from the first crop of Wildcat Heir went an 1/8 in 9 4/5 (one out of Premier Peak and another out of Katie McLaury) and a Graeme Hall colt out of It's a Trip went an 1/8 in 9 4/5 and a Successful Appeal colt out of Big Score went an 1/8 in 9 4/5 and a Songandaprayer colt out of Cassanova Storm went an 1/8 in 9 4/5. Also, a Yes It's True colt out of Silverlado went a 1/4 in 20 2/5.

The Consolidator's didn't sell all that well as yearlings but I thought they had great movement as a whole. I've heard more than one pinhooker speak highly of them this winter.

Guess the new whip rules aren't slowing them down!

What are the whip rules?

Appeared to me the horses that worked 2f , the riders were going to the whip.

The rider on hip #102 went to the whip several times.

Didn't the Green Monkey work in 9 4/5? I see hip #46 and #119 worked in 9 3/5. Reckon theyt should go for 20million. :)

They are not supposed to whip within 1f of the finish or anywhere thereafter.

Ok. Thanks.

Makes sense, as appears at the 1/8 pole the whip gets put away.
