He was consigned by Adena - there seems to be a bit of a boycott on Adena animals check out their results at any sales...

Just did a VERY casual inspection of the horses that sold for >1 million dollars in the 2005 September yearling sale. Of the 21 horses that sold for 1 Million or greater, the group "topper" won $222,457, a foal out of Key To My Heart. Several were unraced. The average of the 21 million dollar horses' winnings is not likely 100k.

Session topper was an A.P. Indy colt o/o Balance who sold for 4.2M, the highest price since 2006.

Well, I saw him on Youtube, can't believe this is a yearling, but I guess he takes after the family!

The Ap Indy filly out of Fleet Indian was even bigger if you can believe it. She was just massive.

Portion of article below:

With the number of horses cataloged reduced significantly by Keeneland officials and the two select sessions Sept. 12-13 switched from daytime to nighttime, the average price and median price rose 31.8% and 32.6%, respectively, from a year ago. In addition, the buy-back rate fell to 31.4% from 38.2% in 2009 and on the opening night, an A.P. Indy – Balance colt brought $4.2 million, the highest price for the auction since Meydan City sold for $11.7 million in 2006.

“It may be the format, and it may be something else, but I think the market has been solid,” Goodman said Sept. 13. “It’s awesome.”

The 127 horses that were sold during the two select sessions represented a 45% decline from a year ago when the total was 222. But their gross of $44,305,000 was down much less sharply, falling 24.6% from 2009’s comparable figure of $58,756,000. Two yearlings brought seven-figure prices, down from three last year.

Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, didn’t attend the select sessions, and his bloodstock manager, John Ferguson, purchased only two horses after buying 31 yearlings and spending $13,460,000 in 2009. But a host of foreign and domestic shoppers poured into the Keeneland sale pavilion and filled the void.

Another member of Dubai’s ruling family, Sheikh Hamdan, was at the September auction for the first time in several years, and he was the select sessions’ biggest spender, paying $5,110,000 for 12 yearlings. South Florida healthcare magnate Benjamin Leon Jr., attending his first Thoroughbred sale, ranked second, spending $5,060,000 for three head in the name of his Besilu Stables.

Also active were B. Wayne Hughes of Spendthrift Farm, Elizabeth Moran’s Brushwood Stable, Roy and Gretchen Jackson of Barbaro fame, and Florida pinhookers along with shoppers from Japan, Europe, and Qatar.

Thanks, Madelyn. I think we paid 14K for her so it could have been much worse. We were hoping for 100K. Her reserve was 74.9!!! Whew!!! Actually, our Stormy Atlantic has had much more buzz about her the last few days. She goes tomorrow.

I thought you had bred her - I just looked under Candy Ride's sales results and it appears the Ruby Friday weanling went for $25K in 2009. I believe you got a very fair price.

How did they get the Ruby Friday yearling into the catalog in the middle of the A's??

oooooh, a half to Better Talk Now by Afleet Alex. Where's the drooling icon.

Just saw him sell for 120K. He's adorable, lot of white on face, wide crooked blaze. Huge ears. maybe a tad small. Seems pretty nervous. My gut says he won't set the world on fire but I'm "buying" him for the fantasy stable anyway.

He was small but still I was surprised. Anyone know what the deal is with the Adena horses? There are some very nicely bred horses selling for cheap cheap! :?
#50 for $20k
#56 for $40k?
#139 for $20k?
#146 for $25k?

Anyone see #369? A Street Sense for $1000

I think the comment about the boycott has some validity.

I was also wondering about Honey Rider foal.... I was trying to find the answer here. Just checked results of session 2 and there are three or four horses consigned by Adena which all were sold for 20 or 30K...
Any more inside informations? Like why is that...?
Also, why they didn't put a reserve on their horses???

Also, hip 106 - only 170K? Well, maybe not only, but I would expect her to sell for more... I absolutely love her pedigree... I would buy her for my broodmare band even if she's three-legged! :) Something wrong with her...?

While First Samurai x Us Song colt sold for almost 500K... Let's bet he will be retired in less then five starts... to start profitable stallion career, of course :?
What happened to this world...
