Fasig Tipton Nov sale vs Keenland Nov sale

Question, is the Fasig Tipton Nov sale considered a much higher end sale than the Keenland?.

F-T is certainly trying to position it that way.

It's a very small sale--about 40% the size of KeeNov Book 1--so they can certainly afford to be very select. That said, probably half the top mares will go to F-T and the other half will go to Keeneland book 1.

The F-T sale will end up with a higher average and median than Keeneland because it's a one night, 4 hour sale, as opposed to Keeneland's complete 12 days during which offerings will run the gamut from fabulous to not-so-hot.

What I am trying to do is figure out if I should even spend time looking at the FT catalog if I cannot afford anything. From what you are saying, and my budget below 10k I guess I should just focus on Keenland. Would you agree? Looking for a decent broodmare.

Focus on Keeneland November. You can find quite a bit of value for 10k in that sale.

I agree with ASB. You'll be much better off shopping at Keeneland and there should be plenty for you to look at.

Look at books 4 thru 7 at Keeneland for your price bracket but if you are going to be there don't count out book 3 for soft spots in the sale.

From the responses to the post is it fair to say that it is like a select sale in that they rank the better horses and put them in the first few books or is it just luck where they end up.

In the Keeneland sale, the quality will be highest in book 1, then book 2, then book 3, and so on down the line. In the F-T sale, the dams will be listed alphabetically from start to finish with no regard to quality--however in this particlular F-T sale, the quality will be very very high throughout.

Not to say, though, that there are not some very good horses in the later books.
