How about Hartley/DeRenzo at OBS?

2005

Six horses catalogued, one scratch, two RNA. Total sales: $2.775 million. Total earnings: $200,000. Top earner: IMPELLING (Forestry), a $725,000 sale which earned $56,000.

2007

Three horses were catalogued, two were scratched; the remaining colt sold for $800,000. He started 16 times, won once, earned $29,000

2008

Seven catalogued, four scratched, one RNA. The remaining two sold for $1.525 million; they earned a total of $203,000 in 19 starts.

2009

Six catalogued, three scratched. Three sold for $900,000. Two were unraced, the other won two races in three starts, $104,000

TOTAL: 16 two-year-olds sold by Hartley-DeRenzo for $26,350,000. Collectively they earned $939,000, or about 3.4% of their purchase price, not including expenses.

Perhaps the most prolific consignor of two-year-olds in the country is Dr. Barry Eisaman. Selling under the EISAMAN EQUINE banner his collection of pinhooked yearlings usually exceeds several dozen in the Florida sales.

EISAMAN consignees often record the fastest preview times Last year's OBS March sale is no exception; it's FLATTER colt and DIXIE UNION filly each recorded the preview's best times of :20 3/5.

We decided to examine the 'Past Performances' of Eisaman's previous OBS March Sale two-year-olds whose workouts also topped the sale. (US earnings only).

Spin:

NATC not hosting annual Futurity in 2012

Due to a combination of circumstances the NATC will not be hosting its annual Futurity or producing a promotional advertising campaign this year. The NATC board has decided to put these programs on hold for the current sale season. The principal reason for this is the difficulty of generating sufficient revenue and viable participation in our Futurity to fund them effectively in the prevailing economic climate.

We would, however, like to thank all our loyal NATC members for their continued support over the years: we would have achieved nothing without them. We would also like to stress that this is not intended to be a permanent departure and that the situation will be revisited well in advance of the next cycle. Also, the NATC’s political arm will continue to be active, participating in industry forums and debates, fielding press when appropriate and generally advocating two year old sales at every opportunity. We will keep all our members updated on any changes to these decisions.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the NATC office by phone or email. Good luck to everyone in the upcoming two year old sale season.

Best Regards,

The NATC Board:
Mike Mulligan, Niall Brennan, Eddie Woods, Barry Eisaman, Tony Bowling, Ciaran Dunne, Mike O’Farrell and Nick de Meric.

A plethora of lightning-fast (or 'warp speed') workouts at today's (4-7-11)Keeneland April Sale preview made our job of choosing a winner of our coveted 'Dash For Cash' award a tough one. No fewer than four babies were timed at .09 4/5 for 220 yards, and many others in comparatively pedestrian clockings of :10 and :10 1/5.

In the end we chose MURRAY SMITH as our winning pinhooker. Long known for sending her preview charges in faster-than-a-speeding bullet workouts (she calls them 'breezes') Ms. Smith has consigned a small but select group of two-year-olds to the Keeneland April sale since 1999.

Let's see how they performed for their lucky purchasers:

Only pinhookers know the dirty secrets. What are they? Electrical buzzers? Illegal stimulants and pain-killers? Herbs which mask them? Shock-wave treatments? Cobra venom?

Your diversionary tactics are childish and transparent. Tell us your secrets.

You must be the dumbest pinhooker in NATC. Not even Fire Slam or any other Florida hack is behind you this time.

Here's an old truism for you, Dray: When you're pointing the finger at someone else, take a look at where the other four fingers are aimed.
