Last check the RNA's are slowing with not so many groups of 2 or 3 in a row. Its kind of hit or miss. I watched 2 Giant's Causeway weanlings sell (actually RNA's) for $50,000 and $60,000. If I remember right Tiznow's half brother by Storm Cat didn't sell that well either, but it looked to be really small. The high end mares are doing well (obviously Ashado did very well  ), but there looked to be some value mares if they met their reserve.

Just checked Bloodhorse and things seem to have gone well at the KEE Nov sale:

Gross up 21.2%
Average up 43.4% [$545,117 vs $380,117 in 04]
Medium up 70.2% [$315k vs 4185k in 04]
20 horses with sales prices > $1 million vs 15 in 2004
26.8% RNA vs 19.3% in 04

Of course $9 million paid for Ashodo plus the increase to 20 for seven figure horses may have something to do with these stats.

I think the thing people overlook is the substantial increase in RNA's which were also way higher at Fasig Tipton compared to 2004.

You are corrrect.

The "4" in front of 185k should have been a "$" for $185k

By the way, this is first sesson data. Could not find any sata on today's session.

The increase in horses not meeting their reserve is up from app one in five to a little better than one in four. That may or may not be significant and it may be due tp reserve prices being set too high as well as lack of interest.

I think the true 1st sesson test is the significant increase in the MEDIUM price from $185k in 04 to $315k in 05.

remember Medium is a better stat than average

Maybe the sky is not falling.

That would be median... and you are dead correct that it is a better figure to use.

The RNA's were more in line today. Even so, I have a feeling the increase in RNA's was a function of over zealous sellers rather than thrifty buyers. Look at some of the RNA figs... same horses may have been sold last year and would assuredly been sold at that price the year before.

It does look to be a fairly strong market for mares. We won't have a good feel for weanlings until the weekend...

I also somewhat expect the lower end mares to not be as compromised as in the past. Catalogue 6 is almost as strong as 4 and the KY breeders incentive should help a slight bit. We shall see.
