"exciting" additions to Barretts January

Postby Cree » Sat Jan 14, 2006 4:55 pm

I just got an email from Barretts. Street Theatre (stallion prospect), G2SW Storm Wolf, Texcess and the speedball filly Papa To Kinzie are supplemented to the sale. Improves the catalogue a bit, wouldn't you agree?
And Hip 43 A, part of Mary Knight's consignment, is a cute little filly named Sugar Pine, who was owned by Janis Whitham and raced at Hastings this year.
I love 5A's pedigree, although he's a gelding.

Wow very nice additions. Papa to Kinzie should bring a nice price.

I think alot has to do with their racing future. Storm Wolf is an eyecatching one but if he can't race what is a son of Stormin Fever going to realistically bring as a stallion prospect?

Just an interesting anecdote:

Papa To Kinzie is the mare that freaked out the last week of the Hollywood meet and did the U-Turn in front of outrider/ambulance. She had a decent work at Santa Anita a few days ago. Wonder why she's now in the sale.

Does that mean they're washing their hands of her asap? :? Wonder what they saw in the work... maybe they worked her to try to demonstrate undamaged goods but she's a head case? Just brainstorming here, no pun intended.

Well, she's entered in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes on Saturday at Santa Anita. She's the only girl running against boys. I bet they're hoping she steals one and adds some black type to her race record just before the sale.

But she had to go into the supplement three weeks ago to be in the sale. I think they are working her for the race to get a good effort to maximize the amount at the sale. Today we'll find out if they were right.
