She is probably being sold as a fishhook to get the covering stallion's foal out there.

She is not actually entered in the sale. This is a fraudulent entry that was placed by someone who does not own the mare.

Why would someone not connected with the mare pay an entry fee for the sale? Can you expand?

Got back from the sale and was informed why this mare was fraudently put in the sale. Now it all makes sense.... even though it really doesn't :(
