Creating a star...Hip 199 at FT Calder

Postby Cree » Tue Feb 21, 2006 7:36 pm

I am looking at her pictures on the consignors website, and she looks back at the knee, and bow legged up front. Of course, the last time I posted about a horse's "bad" conformation, he became a graded stakes placed runner...so, any comments?

I haven't seen the filly in question but, in my experience, good conformation is more of a predictor of how sound a horse is likely to remain rather than of how much racing ability it will possess. For what it's worth, she worked an eighth in 10 3/5 at the first under tack show, a perfectly decent time.

I would have more of an issue with 287 who is on the same site and has at least one and probably both front legs shaved. He also is the only one without head on and rear shots. Hmmm...and he's a Jump Start.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly do you mean when you say his legs are shaved??? I can't see...unless you mean they doctored the picture?

If you look at the white leg on the front you will see its off colored with skin tone showing under the white. My guess would be that he's been blistered which requires the legs be shaved simply by the color of the skin and thats why no close-ups of the legs. It could be that he's been shaved to be sweated as well.

Just judging from the pictures, I'd like to have the Tale of the Cat colt or teh Giant's Causeway (which actually belongs to a friend of mine.)

Did anyone else notice that some of the pictures from the front were taken dead-on and others were slightly angled?

I like the GC colt as well even though I'm not big on his sire. I liked the Tale of the Cat filly and the Cherokee Run colt as well.

Maybe my eyes are playing trick on me, but most of these horses apear back at the knee to me! and i really dont like the way there feet are shod. some almost appear to have flares
