Louisiana Thoroughbred Spring Open Mixed Sale

Postby Camish » Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:56 am

I am considering purchasing a broodmare at the Louisiana Sale. Has anyone attended it in the past? If so, what prices do the mares in foal usually go for? Is anyone attending it this year? I'm looking for a nice IF mare and currently have been unsuccessful in my search so I suppose I'll look at auction. Thanks!

The Thoroughbred Times normally has good summaries: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/auctio ... mmary=2757

Good luck.

Camish,

The prices are generally fairly reasonable down there. Happy hunting

Have gone in the past and i find this sale more like a cull sale. prices for infoal mares go for between 2-7K. Just depends on the mare and what she has thrown on the track.

Which Hip # are you looking at or can you say?

Is this the sale April 8th at Lafayette? I have attented the one there in the summer & its probley about the same. You can maybe find a diamond in the rough so to speak but overall its more cull type bloodstock. I will be helping a friend with a few there & I have no idea what he has nor whats in the catalog. If there is any online catalog I would greatly appericate if someone would let me know where? Thanks

Camish....did you get your mare? How did you find the over-all quality? A friend of mine bought a mare and foal and seems pretty happy with them.
