When to Breed Back a Mare That Recently Aborted

Postby horsenuts » Sun Feb 04, 2007 12:36 am

Mare is 10 years old and has had 3 foals and this is the first to abort. Mare was about 9 1/2 months along and foal was pretty much developed. Mare's legs are stocked up since aborting and she was not doing well the first day after aborting but has since stablized save the "stocking up". Happened last Sunday.

Would you be inclined to breed her back this year or skip a year? Any thoughts and experience on the matter appreciated.

As long as cultures come back on her fine, I'd go ahead and breed her.
