Throat Surgeries

Postby tbrace » Sun Feb 11, 2007 8:40 pm

Hi,
We have a nice colt that had a "tie-back" done in the fall. With some other injuries, he is just now coming back.

The problem is that he still 'roars" after moderate excercise. This occurs more on the exhale than the inhale.

We will be taking him to the vet soon, but has anyone done the "tie-back" procedure, and, have you sometimes needed a second surgery to re-do it, or address another problem?

Any other thoughts?

Tie-backs often need to be redone, unfortunately. If he's still roaring, you should have someone take a look.

Is it possible that there is a paralysis that a tie-back won't fix? My mare has that issue and I've been told that there is no tie-back surgery that will work for her. I hope that's not your situation.
