The "Lightest" Racing Bit

Postby ratherrapid » Mon Aug 20, 2007 1:46 pm

Anybody have one--brand and where to buy it?? "Lightest" racing bit means "least heavy"--i.e. different than the two pounders they keep sending me. I'd like to find a feather weight of "normal" size. Do they make those?

One piece of info might be helpful for anyone that wants a light one--apparently copper is a heavy (in terms of weight) metal.

Usually I equate "light" with a thin mouthpiece... is this what you mean? I use a Mylar snaffle... it's not thick, and the curved edges prevent pinching. The shape fits nice in the mouth. Some also come with rollers, etc. Don't know how they compare with a regular snaffle for racing purposes, but my ex-racer responds well & seems to like it.

I have an eggbutt snaffle that is hollow inside it. It is considerably lighter than my other bits.

txs all. was hoping someone might identify by brand and style and catalogue, a racing bit that was thinner and light in weight. A jointed snaffle such as in the Sprenger KK ultras or the Mylers would be a plus, but, seems those are all heavy bits.
