Particularly Body Builder. Yes? No? If yes, for which horses? (Young - how young? - Old? Broodmares?) Any experience with it?
Lube-All Plus is advertised as a possible solution to OCD. Anyone used it for that purpose?
Opine on EquiAide products (BodyBuilder, Lube-All)?

After the screw up on the OCD thread I hate comment on any of these
However, we do use Body Builder - in fact all of my horse are on it (weanlings, pregnant mares and barren mares). In previous years we've had problems getting mares in foal - we tried putting them on BB and lo and behold, all the mares got in foal - better vet care? Better luck? Better cover? for that year - who knows, but since then we've kept them on it - all of my mares were on it prior to going to the breeding shed this year and again, they all got in foal. We put the babies on it prior to and during prep (feel it works well for weight gain if they need it, puts a nice shine to their coat, etc...)
We use the Lube-All Plus on our dogs who have hip dysplagia - just a squirt in their dog food. It seems to have helped their joints somewhat but they are also on other supplements for their joint problems). Equiade told me I could take the Lube-All plus for me but I haven't tried it yet

Body Builder is great, but costly I would look at Rice Bran, oil is best, or meal...this is what helps also with fertility in both mares and stallions and healthier pregnacies in broodmares. this is also what brings on the weight and muscle mass through "body builder".. 5 gallons of rice bran oil for $36.00 or 1QT. concentrated for $60-$70 for Bodybuilder... they both contain what you are looking for, both provide the same thing's..
On the other hand, rice bran products are invaluable as an energy dense feed, particularly applicable to the energy demands created by aerobic exercise. Because hard-working equine athletes are often unable to consume as much feed as necessary to maintain a high level of exercise, we need to find concentrated foodstuffs that supply calories without creating intestinal fill. Rice bran is one such substance that fits this criteria.
To give you a general comparison of caloric value of rice bran relative to other products, consider that 1 pound of rice bran is comparable to 1.3 pounds oats or 8 fluid ounces of corn oil. The fat in rice bran products is at least 85% digestible, but make sure the product you purchase is heat stabilized as the fat rapidly becomes rancid.
There really is no close substitute to feeding vegetable oil as a means of packing the calories and energy to your horse. Vegetable oil has been fed with success to performance horses for years by adding up to 10% of the diet as fat. In other words, a 1000 pound horse will readily consume as much as 1 cup vegetable oil twice a day added to some grain. If feeding rice bran, a horse can safely consume 1 cup (~ 1 pound) twice a day. Dietary fat is particularly effective in providing useable energy to horses involved in aerobic athletics, like distance trail horses or Event horses. It is palatable and efficiently metabolized to fuel aerobic activities.

You mention Rice Bran and Rice Bran Oil. You mention a horse can consume 1 cup Rice Bran twice daily. You mean Rice Bran Oil @ 1 cup twice daily? What is it about the Rice Bran Oil that is the same as in the Body Builder? I have never used either but I am always looking for ways to improve my feed program. We are coming into winter and have several older mares that we will supplement with grain and would like to help boost them a bit in the cold weather. They are all in foal, or appear to be at this time
and we do have a few that aren't and if we could help them before breeding time that would be great.

Rice Bran Oil is likely what nythoroughbredvz was referring to when he said 1 cup. You can feed up to two pounds of rice bran pellets daily (I believe). As for Rice Bran Oil it is much more cost effective than Body Builder. They both contain gamma oryzonal

Rice Bran Oil it is much more cost effective than Body Builder. They both contain gamma oryzonal and this is what Body Builder promotes!(a horse can safely consume 1 cup (~ 1 pound) twice a day) this is oil!!!
it will also aid in warmth for winter months, as well as save their feed for nutritional values and have less loss for body heat production and nutrient loss from lack of pasture. there is a link below where you can purchase it. I doubt you will find it any cheeper!! if you buy it at a feed store you are looking at $16-$26 a gallon! as far as pellets or rice bran meal i would go by manufacturers suggestions! goodluck if you try it. I think you will be impressed with the results!

I have purchased from them a few times with zero problems. They take a credit card and shipping usually arrives in 5 days or so.

I checked with my feed store and they had it for $23.00 a gallon. Glad you gave the link for this. The one store had the rice bran pellets in a 40 lb. bag for $26.00 They were recommending a 1/2 lb a day with that I believe.

Lube-All has been a LIFE SAVER for me and my horses! After a long distance running career through college and attempting to qualify for the marathon olympic trials, I've gone through 2 knee surgeries and thought that at 33, I would have to live with terrible pain in my knees when I bent down. Lube-all has turned that around in the month that I have been on it. I started my 23 year old x-eventer mare on it and she is SO COMFORTABLE that it is wonderful. To watch her run and play with the other horses like she is 15 again is just wonderful. I highly recommend the stuff. My friend tried it for her back before she knew that she had a buldging disk... it didn't help that though....
