I'm using it right now. A seven shot series. Does it work? I think it helps.

pls visit adequan website www.luitpold.com the dosage of adequan is 1 4 7 or once every 4 days x 7 shots = 28 days. the latest & modern therapy topical application of diclofenac sodium (surpass is the brand name) to the affected joint.

TENDINITIS results from physical weight bearing strain overload by soft tissue support of distal limb. Pushed beyond elastic capabilities of tissues resulting to fibre tearing. Treatment: removed the horse from exercise and rest. Ice baths and Cold Hydrotherapy 24 – 48 hours after injury successful in limiting the entrance of potentially injurious cells and chemical mediators to tendon lesion site. Afterwards warm local tissues to encourage VASODILATION for healing. KETOPROFEN an anti imflammatory agent pharmacologically related to Phenylbutazone, Aspirin, Indomethacin or Dipyrone. It acts primarily on inflamed tissues used for muscle / bone / joint disease. Indicated for treatment of wide range muscular sprain and strain, muscular overuse, TENDINITIS and arthritic conditions.

Types of Joints:

FIBROUS (Skull, those between shafts of long bones)
CARTILAGIOUS (Pelvis and Vertebrae)
SYNOVIAL (most active consist of 2 bone ends covered by articular cartilage)

Prime enemy of JOINT HEALTH is FRICTION. To protect against friction we need LUBRICATION. Best Drug ADEQUAN (sodium hyaluronic acid)

kind regards!

Karen , Adequan is the single best therapeutic drug that I have ever come across. Over the past 20 years I have found that it works even better than it professes to . Horses in training and racing show great improvement in flexion and especially hind-end comfort. Chemically it is very close to glucosamine that is used in various forms for human use. Even my vets declare that synovial fluid looks much better in horses on an adequan regime. There is a cheaper generic form out there which I use much more often and it works well too. My final confession is embarrassingly open but it's true. For about 5 years my right shoulder has painfully deteriorated into"frozen shoulder" status. This comes from years of grooming, ponying, clipping and wrestling with 1200 pound beasts. Last year in desparation I gave myself a 1cc intra muscular shot of the real Adequan solution for 4 months in a row , in the right arm. The effect was a steady and enormous change for the better which lasted for 12 months and is still far better than the original problem. I rest my case.

Glad to hear that. I have one with OCD lesions in a stifle. Had them scoped and removed. Rehab protocol included Adequan 7 shot series. He's back in training and so far so good. He jerked a winner's head off yesterday in a work. I'm repeating the 7 shot series and will continue with a once a month IM protocol.

Adequan is ABSOLUTELY NOT hyaluronic acid!!

Adequan is polysulfated glycosaminoglycan.

LEGEND is hyaluronic acid.

Some vets will tell you that the generic (about half the price) isn't necessarily the same thing. And that it may or may not work.
It is called Chondroprotec. Some trainers will even say that it "may" or may not work.

I myself stick with the real stuff, because I'm a little suspicious as well.

There is no generic Adequan.

There are similar medications--Chondroprotec and IcHon--that are also Sterile Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan, but they are licensed as WOUND DRESSING. They are absolutely not licensed as injectibles.

They may or may not work like Adequan. If you have any problems with either after injecting it, you are absolutely SOL.

Relax CKaye I am using the word Adequan as the high ground of joint therapy instead of what it is chemically, PSG. The generic "form" of Adequan that many of us use at the track goes under the chemical name of Acetyl-d-Glucosamine and works out to about 25% of the cost of polysulfated glycosaminoglycan in it's injectable form. Of course you get what you pay for ,however as a trainer of slower horses I like to give it regularly myself at home or by the vet at the track and the horses show me improvement over time. PSG, Hyaluronic Acid ,Chondroitin and Acetyl d Glucosamine are all amino monosaccharides and can be found in cartilage and connective tissue. All of these compounds show positive results for inhibiting damage in joints and actually for returning joints to a high level of function and amazingly can act as anti inflammatory in action.
