just had to retire a very nice race mare, because the stress of gearing up for her first race of the season caused a rather severe flare up of her thought to be mild epm, for which she was being treated.
Anyone have any advice concerning breeding this mare in 2011? Yes, no...
We've never dealt with this before, and are getting conflicting opinions from vets. Thanks for your insights.

I don't have advice, but I can tell you that our broodmare had a mild case of EPM at age 2. It caused her to take a year off before she went back into training. She was on an EPM preventative when she was racing and we bred her 3 months after she retired. She has not had it since & we're advised she should not take it while pregnant. Luckily there have been no flare ups since, so that has not been an issue. She had a trouble free pregnancy and her first foal is beautiful.
You have at least 7 months to decide, so perhaps you should see what her health is like in January. It's not like there are many stallions filling their books early .....
