My big chestnut mare is just awful about letting her colt share the feed tub and last night he was standing at the very back corner of the stall while she lustily ate all of the grain. So I went to my supply of junk and found some black aluminum rods that are perfect for your cheapie standard $3 foal feeder. I drilled holes, found nuts and bolts to fit, and put this up in the stall for my little guy..
I've got quite a LOT of these aluminum rods, in a couple of different sizes. Might try my luck selling a few on ebay..

Made a Foal Feeder
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
good thinking.. you could have been an injunear.
might want to consider nailing the same size wood the the left wall like you did to the rear wall and then fasten the left side to that support with a couple of small lag bolts or a nail with washers.
right now your feeder is cantilever which gives your mare leverage to tear it down.. the left side bracing will make it much much stronger.
still much impressed

The little blue plastic foal feeder tub was $3 at the stockyards sale - they are a bit more from the catalogs. Here's one from American Livestock

The foal feeder with the bars tends to be from $20-50 - here's one on ebay

The stockyard auctions around me generally have awesome deals on tack and equipment and I don't buy stuff until I have looked for it at the auctions.
