Nurse Mare Needed ASAP - Ontario, Can

Postby Supernova » Wed May 25, 2011 7:39 pm

We lost our mare tonight due to colic. She had a 3 week old foal who we are trying to get setup drinking from the "Igloo Cooler" method, or a bucket. If somebody has a nurse mare available that would definitely be the best option. We are located in Ontario, Can. Please email at [email protected] (two underscores)or call Robyn at (647)880-3887

Thanks

So sorry for your loss... I hope you find a good nurse mare. You could try Carsons (519-291-2049) as a last resort, I was quoted $3,500 to lease a mare this year.

We were so lucky to find a mare not 5 minutes from the farm! A private breeder lost a foal and has now lent us her mare.

So glad you found one. We have gone through that and it isn't fun. Best one we ever had we didn't have to pay a dime for, she was a little Poco Bueno mare about 14.2. By the time the colt was weaned, he was taller than she was. We have paid anywhere from $1500 for a miserable witch to $1800 for a jewel. Around here, we can't be choosy, as there isn't much available. Good luck with the new mom.
