Pedigree Query

This is the second mare to do this is 4 or 5 years. For no apparent reason they will have blood dripping out of one nostril. It only lasts about 10 minutes. Anyone else have this happen?? We have had a lot of wind and dirt blowing this year recently, I wonder if it is just the one nostril got dry and irritated??

I tried feeding garlic salt to my older mare several summers ago. She had a few nosebleeds after galloping up/down/around and back again on the hillside property we used to have. I attributed it to the garlic and stopped feeding it.

Guttural pouch mycosis is rare but close to 100% fatal. I would want a scope to rule that out.

Obviously isn't that. I didn't understand half of what the article said. I think I will go with my gut instinct that either she got a stiff stick of hay up it, or the wind and dust irritated her nose and she blew it as all horses do and that caused it. The dripping stopped in a few minutes and and she has been fine ever since. Thanks for the reply.

Thank you, although the info didn't help Kathy, it explains exactly what must have happened with a filly we lost last summer. Two severe nosebleeds from one side and then the final one where she bled out, all occurred within a months time. I had never heard of guttural pouch mycosis before. Thanks.
