We have a horse with a "mule hoof" on her right front. Shoeing seems to cause a little pain. Vet has looked at her and foot is fine. It could be the nails. We may try some glue on shoes or an orthopedic shoe. Having a second farrier take a look tomorrow too. Any suggestions??

What you call a mule hoof is surely a contracted type namely a club foot....I always advise NOT to shoe those and simply balance the foot...I keep horses sound and in hard work many years that way.In fact juste put down a 27 yo (unrelated accident, broken knee) and have a 20 yo one here and a 5 yo. Shoeing and modifying these feet always shorten the lifespan and even render horse lame and useless.
