Straw Bedding can be a bad deal

I had one that was horribly allergic to straw and ended up bleeding. I now use pellet bedding. When properly soaked fluffed out and used right it is the least expensive and most dust and allergy free bedding I've ever used. Straw is the Most Expensive, least absorbent, time consuming to work with, and worst for the horse bedding. It's only one of the reasons why I would never want to train at Churchill or Trackside (Churchill Training Center). Churchill has a deal for the manure with straw to mushroom farms, who haul it away, and will not permit any kind of bedding except straw (unless you bring your own dumpster and handle removal etc.) Here is a prime example where economics are much more important to Churchill Downs than the race trainer and his or her horses.
