Mare is due in two weeks. First time mare, probably be a few days late.

When do I put a halter on the baby?

And if you think it should be soon after birth, please tell me what you recommend I should use.

The leather slip foal halter is my go to. Usually put it on once the foal is up and nursing strong and able to walk around not all wobbly. It stays on outside - ours are led in and out the barn from Day 1 -but NEVER left on in the stall.
