Final War
This colt(Will's Way x Current War by Lord at War) just broke his maiden at Mountaineer Park going 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt. He was in training as 2yo, but unrace until the other day. What should be his best distance and surface.

There is no way to answer your question definitively; one can only say what his parents and close relatives have tended to do or produce. That said...,
Will's Way was a stayer by stayer deluxe Easy Goer. He won the Travers at 3 and the Whitney at 4. However his best offspring on the track is the one-turn miler Lion Tamer. And his second-best runner Willy o' the Valley was another of the same sort. So I wouldn't be afraid that he sires plodders.
My APR only covers to the end of 2006 and it shows both of the dam's previous foals as unraced. She herself was a winner in a main track sprint on an off track and a winner on the turf; her turf record is better than her main track record, which only makes sense - she was a full sister to a turf SW (won 8 turf races, including first out), her sire was Lord at War and the dam was an Irish-bred mare by Be My Guest.
So this one could go any way - he has elements of main track talent from dad, and turf talent from mom. He might like one turn, or he might stay a bit farther - one can find reasons for any of these in this pedigree.

There is no such thing as too much Teddy.
