All I can tell you is that from my personal injury database of horses, 2-o only shows up twice out of over 500 horses, and those two raced till 5.

yeah i definetely noticed the soundness of this line as it was typical to see foals in it that raced 70 times, actually seen one that had raced 327 times around 1900's, imagine that, a far cry from today's runners

Ah....Family 2-o, one of my favorites in the breed.
I love the way back connection to a base of siblings that seem to meet each other in later generations.
Imperatrice is loaded with this clan.
I think the real base to this is Alexander Mare(dam of Selim, Castrel, Rubens, Bronze, etc.).
Many of her descendants appear in BIG families, particularly the sires from this branch.
It's funny because as sires themselves, they were nothing big and notable during their time, however when you scroll down the list of descendants of Alexander Mare you will see a sire in the family tree and your mind will go "where have I seen this name before?"...Well, it happens if you scroll back and follow lines as far as I do. LOL!!
Anyways, some these relatively obscure sires appear in some very BIG TIME families. It makes you wonder.

Hi

Your girl has a wonderful pedigree, and as you have all pointed out, the family is filled with good sound runners. She traces to the conduit mare La Danseuse (1907) by Ladas, who was not a particularly good runner herself but as generations passed, a lot of quality emerged through her, including the Belmont Stakes winner Quadrangle and the good sires Diesis, Kris, and Evansville Slew among others.
Lots of potential with this one.

Mabiille

Postby Bettina » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:54 pm

Hallo, what kind of coincidence. Recently I had a look at that strain of family 2-o

Here in Germany the the Sire Prunus by Dark Donald was a descent of Mabille. He is bred 4 x 4 Mabille/Cremorne: He was succsful in my Country, but couldn't found a lasting sire line, his best offspring was Oleander.

Abit lesser known Sires in American peds are Good Goods and Pietermaritzburg, see Alsab. Dashing Blade (by Elegant Tern)an imported Stallion, is another descentof Mabille. High Hat and his son High Game are another starins of his family.

The FB's Dieses/Kris and Keen are tracing to the same taproot mare.

Best regards, Bettina

Hallo,

I forgot to mention "The Tetrach"another descent of Mabille.
He is the sire of Mumtaz Mahal, Tetretema, Salmon-Trout, Snow Maiden Ethnarch etc., just to mention a few.

Correction

Postby Bettina » Fri Aug 22, 2008 3:13 pm

Hallo,
when I reread my postings I saw I did a "mix up". The Sire of Dashing Blade is Elegant Air, Elegant Tern is his dam.

Unfortunately I have the tendency to left out a "R" in The Tetrarch.

Sorry for the mistakes.

Regards, Bettina

Are there some female familes that throw racers and dams, but not sires? I know there are some female branches that seem to produce sires, generation after generation, and some that excel at producing great dams.

We talk about sires being sires of sires and broodmare sires, but how about dams?

Family 2-o seems to excel at producing good sires and good dams and good racers.
