Family 9

Postby xfactor fan » Tue Jan 19, 2010 8:41 am

Was looking at the femail family of Nasrullah female family 9, which should go back to the Vintner mare. However in 5 pedigree databases the line goes back to Spitfire (1800) with no problem. Equineline stops here.

The other four take the family back via: Spitfire--Young Sir Peter Mare (1791)--Milfield Mare (178x) and then just stops.

So the question is what links this female line to family 9, and why is it missing?

This is the branch of the family with different mtDNA (G) rather than mtDNA(A) that the rest of the family has.

The pedigree of record for Spitfire's dam. But even before mtDNA testing it was considered false by many, and was so noted in the GSB. See the notes for Family 9-c at Bloodlines.

Thanks,

That was the one site that I hadn't checked. It looks like in this case the doubts in the historical record and the genetics match.

Wouldn't it be great if other mysteries could be solved so neatly? Like who was the sire of Eclipse?

XXF, Pan Zareta, et al on this particular board are full of pedigree mystery when it comes to the TB. Forgive me, but it would be nice is we could solve one mystery at a time. I have never been great at multi-tasking.
