Interesting pedigree

Postby Diane » Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:57 am

Hello again,
I ran across a sales ad that caught my eye and thought the pedigree was interesting. The mare's name is Barely A Valntine. She's from the ff of California's great horse Best Pal. She's another try at reproducing greatness, greatness that was stumbled on and apparently is unable to sustain itself? Looking back tail female I don't see much greatness springing up here and there, but I am only seeing data from this website too. I suppose if someone had unlimited funds for horses they might give this mare a try, not me but I find it interesting. Any comments?

All that inbreeding sure didn't transfer to racing ability. She couldn't run a jump. There is a running family no doubt a few generations removed. She would be a gamble in the breeding shed but longer shots than her have produced..

Her sire High Demand looks like Northern Dancer without any white. I suppose who ever breeds will look to outcross. Her tail female is lacking.
