The previous mentioned filly was offered to me again. I said no. I didn't like her physically.

going the linebreeding route, this mare has 3 great things going for her; closely related genetic equivalent's Storm Bird, Nijinsky, and Far North. Using the old adage; breed back to the best of the sire's dam; I come up with

Double Honor

or
Amwaal

for a nice outcross, I like Vineyard Haven

He's quite a specimen going by his photo in the Florida stallion journal. Good looking Hoss.

@ Zinn, curious why you like Repent?

@ Jeff, interesting choices that were not on my radar at all. Amwaal is a no go though because of race record. I saw Vineyard Haven @ Journeyman last year and yes, he's a looker with a great disposition to boot. She's in foal to AP Warrior now and am completely undecided on where to go with her.

Here's another mare, if you guys want to take a stab at her. I was kind of digging Repent for her. Bella Again. Thoughts?

Straight Man works for both mares. All those returns to Pharamond in Bella Again might appeal to Halo's dam sire.

His best runner is out of a Storm Bird mare, so he'd work for Swayme Baby too.

She's got his Buckpasser. Looks like he's a really good sire too.

Your mare has a lot of Nearco blood. I thought she needed a stallion like Repent who sires sound runners and can get you a quality horse when everything comes together. She started only six times so I am assuming she had some soundness issues. Soundness would be something I would make a priority in terms of matings. If you can find a good sound siring stallion free of Nearco I would seriously consider that. I think a significant outcross might help her-perhaps reinvigorate things genetically.. This is in no way a slam on Nearco (i.e.Louis) but in general feel sometimes too much of one ancestor can skew genetically the good and the bad. Certainly your mare had some racing aptitude. Soundness and class would be what I would like to bolster in her.

I do like Repent as a stallion, but of 9 foals out of Buckaroo and Montbrook mares, 8 have missed and 1 has hit. Bella's sire Chapel Royal is a son and grandson of Montbrook and Buckaroo.
