How do you research your horse's pedigree and how can you use it for breeding?

The first step is to find your horse in the database. Then click on the dam, pull up her produce record, and the family number will be on the far right side of the page.

The main thing that the female family tracks if the mtDNA, which provide energy on the cellular level. There is some indication that the type of mtDNA has a direct connection on distance aptitude.

Think of this as a type of fuel. Aviation, gas, and diesel. The trick is to match the engine type to the fuel. No point in trying to run a truck on Aviation fuel, or a plane on diesel.

Breeding to the female family is one strategy.
