Basket Weave and Buckpasser thoughts

Tudor Minstril has a fascinating pedigree to go along with the Buckpasser in the X position. His sire Owen Tudor is by Hyperion whose dam Selene is by Chaucer, his broodmare sire Pharos is out of Scapa Flow also a Chaucer daughter. Getting back to Buckpasser we see that he is Phalaris line stallion, through Pharamond. Pharmond is sired by Phalaris out of Selene; a Chaucer daughter, as is his full brother Sickle, as is his 3/4 relative Pharos also by Phalaris and out of a Chaucer daughter.

Every time Nasrullah or Royal Charger or Pharamond, or Sickle is in the pedigree, this Phalaris over a Chaucer daughter is being repeated. The Phalaris over a Chaucer daughter changed the modern thoroughbred. It was a good cross. Tudor Minstril's dam is by Sansovino, who is a 1/2 brother to Selene's dam Serenissima, so we're getting the added bang of repeating siblings/ 1/2 siblings and gentic equvilents; through the Chaucer daughters bred to Phalaris in this pedigree. It's beautiful!

If I could afford another broodmare, think I'd bee looking for a Basket Weave. Especially for a Halo line stallion, I think it could be a home run kind of nick.

I also notice that Buckpasser in the X stallion Basket Weave is also linebred 3x4 full siblings Swaps and Track Medal. Sex balanced full siblings! Very interesting and attractive pedigree! I'm assuming the rest of you find this pedigree interesting and exciting. Why else would you.even be here on a pedigree website: pedigreequery.com if you're not excited about pedigree's?

From a quick view of prodigee on PQ it doesn't look like he sired many powerhouse runners, but there are some durable types that made some $$.

I don't see a whole lot of MP, ND, API intensity in the pedigrees of his progeny either, and since he sired fillies into the mid 2000s there are probably a good number of them around. This one is somewhat interesting:

Lovely filly out of a Basket Weave daughter, her 1/2 sibling just sold for a nice price at the Washington sale for 31K, good price for a Washington bred yearling. Another example of the superior results of Buckpasser in the X position breeding.

Of course the common don't see the pattern's that constitute the pedigree of the modern thoroughbred, they only see the drab and the gray, that's why us pedigree analyst's exist, to add some color and light to the drab gray miserable existence of the common.
