Took a look at the leading 24 in North America by earnings as of today. I see no need to exclude fillies just b/c they have more paths back to Buckpasser, so they're included. This is how Buckpasser's presence in pedigree breaks down:

20 have at least 1 cross of Buckpasser, none closer than 4th gen., none further back than 7th gen
5 have two non x-passing crosses
4 have one non x-passing cross
4 have two crosses, one non x-passing and one x-passing
3 have one x-passing cross
2 have three crosses, two non x-passing and one x-passing
1 has three crosses, one non x-passing and two x-passing
1 has two x-passing crosses

So, 11 of the current top 24 have Buckpasser in an x-passing position (4 exclusively in x-passing), and 9 of same have Buckpasser exclusively in one or more non x-passing positions. Interesting evidence in regard to his influence in North America but not supportive of the notion that it's x-dependent.

That's an opinion NOT FACT. You treat it as if it were a known fact that the X chromosome at best only plays a minor role in broodmare sire success and you continually cite the genomic evidence to support that conclusion.

Byron Rogers, your eminently reliable source, stated that there are variants on the X chromosome that relate to elite performance but when we rank them the variant on the X that reached statistical significance does not even rank in the top ten.

That statement by Mr. Rogers does not mean that the variant on the X chromosome that reached statistical significance degrades the X to only a minor role at best in broodmare sire success. All that statement means is that in his opinion 9 other variants are more important.

Your blanket statement that the X at best only plays a minor role in broodmare sire success is a glittering generality and you have NO PROOF of that.

i don't think that is acceptable to hijack this thread to pontificate ad nausea about Buckpasser in the x passing position, or for any other reason at all. It shows lack of respect and consideration to the originator of the thread.
