I'd say the quality of his mares was average for KY until Tabasco Cat's 3yo season. That's when his fee went way up and he began attracting much better than average mares.

Although you do not list the 9 time leading broodmare sire Mr. Prospector as a broodmare sire other than Buckpasser or Secretariat, as of 2013 Mr. Prospector was ranked #59 on the top 100 broodmare sires list and through the completed stats up to and including 2013 his daughters had produced at least 395 stakes winners. In addition, he had 14 sons on that list and 10 others that trace to him, so out of 100 of the top broodmare sires in 2013 he is represented by 24 of those stallions and counting his appearance that makes 25 out of the 100.

Buckpasser and Secretariat are indeed great broodmare sires but there is no exact formula when it comes to breeding as conformation, ability, and soundness are very important. Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer are in a league of their own as they outshine Buckpasser and Secretariat by far. Storm Bird is a very good broodmare sire in his own rights as his son Storm Cat is quite a remarkable broodmare sire. Secretariat is part of the formula to Storm Cat's success but one can not forget Terlingua is out of the legendary mare Crimson Saint. Gone West being out of Tamerett by Secretariat one can not forget she is also out of a very successful mare in Tamerett. Weekend Surprise is definitely in a league of her own like a Mr. Prospector or Northern Dancer and the same can be said for mares Natalma, Cosmah, and Almahmoud. Fairy Bridge and Special are elite. Urban Sea is making quite the impression as I look at great mares in a pedigree like a Flower Bowl, Somethingroyal, Almahmoud, Rough Shod II, Special, Fairy Bridge, Courtly Dee, Crimson Saint, Grecian Banner, Lassie's Lady, Althea, Personal Ensign, Baby Zip, Primal Force, Grey Flight, Sex Appeal, Toussaund, Blush With Pride, Grass Shack, Icantation, Cee's Song, Aspidistra, Ta Wee, Grey Flight, Hildene and so on.

I agree 100% and I am surprised that you mention Weekend Surprise without listing A.P. Indy, he has both Secretariat and Buckpasser in his pedigree and he will be a leading broodmare sire for years to come along with Storm Cat, and there are indications that a cross involving both of these stallions has been somewhat successful and the cross can go either way, A.P. Indy with a Storm Cat daughter and Storm Cat with an A.P. Indy daughter.

A.P. Indy is an elite sire from the Seattle Slew sire line as Seattle Slew's dam My Charmer produced two classic winners as Weekend Surprise is the dam of Summer Squall who sired Charismatic and of course A.P Indy. Rags to Riches being by A.P. Indy out of Better Than Honour who is also the dam of Jazil. Lemon Drop Kid also comes from A.P. Indy's mare line having the same 2nd dam Lassie's Lady. El Prado, Medaglia D'Or, Kitten's Joy , Galileo, and Montjeu are sure representing the Sadler's Wells line. Danzig and Sadlers Wells have had international success.
