When someone says black type in first three dams does this include??? the dams and there children ?? or the dams there children and the childrens offspring?

Good Question... I think it depends on who is doing the talking... it can mean any or all of those things. Other words -- stakes winning, stakes producing, etc. -- can also apply to siblings of the dam or second dam or offspring... but generally when they say something like "10 G1 Stakes winners under his third dam" as in my stallion's case, it means that Vale, his third dam, has ten G1 Stakes winners among her direct descendants. Direct terms like "black-type dam" refers to the dam... "black-type family" means just that.
